Sealed or Still Sealed. Means the album or compact disc or whatever is still inside the plastic shrink wrap that Americans cherish. Since we have no idea what the disc looks like, especially albums that are 20 or so years old, we take chances, don't we. But, mostly these are fine. After all Mr. Robinson told Benjamin that plastics was the future in the Graduate, and the future then is Now! If you see SS, it stands for Still Sealed. Mint or Near Mint: Mint is about as perfect as an album gets, no mars, scratches, blemishes or any of that, center hole doesn't look used except once or twice. Since too many people get nuts about vinyl that is 20 or 30 years, we mostly call them NEAR MINT. Remember this is a visual grading. M or NM symbols Very Very Good: Pretty close to Near Mint, but may have mars, discolorations, paper sliding marks, but no scratches or anything clinging to surface. Center hole may have a bit of wear and tear, but minor. V+ is the symbol for this. Very Good: Pretty close to VERY VERY GOOD, but the mars, blemishes, discolorations seem a bit more, like it had been handled roughly. Maybe some hairline scratches, may have a bit of noise when played, but still, well, Very Good, especially considering they ain't making any more. V marks the spot. Good: Well, like I said, they ain't making any more, and this may have some surface noise whether within the orig. pressing or have some scratches, not deep but visible. If deep, I play and keep or throw out accordingly. If you are like me and listen to music while doing other things, this may be fine for you, if you are an earphone or quiet room kind of gal, stick with Very Good and Up. G or G+ Fair or Poor: For vinyl, has a great cover, for compact disc, it probably will still play, and if we list it, we check it first so there's no skips or sticks. F or P. |
